ROCKY MOUNTAIN 
DEAF SCHOOL

The Rocky Mountain Deaf School (RMDS) is a pre-K to 12th grade public charter school in Jefferson County, Colorado.  The 50,000 gross square foot building provides state-of-the-art academic and creative spaces for 100 students. HB/a+p provided design advisory services to local design architect AMD Architects. DeafSpace principles guided

site and building planning and architectural design to optimizing the connection between natural light the Colorado landscape and the environmentally-focused school programs. Gathering places along the main circulation spine foster social interaction and group learning through eye-to-eye communication.
